Day 1. Kakadu
National Park,
Nourlangie Rock, Yellow Water Billabong Wildlife
Cruise.
Today
travel across the Marrakai Plains and enter
World Heritage-listed Kakadu National
Park. Visit the Warradjan
Aboriginal Cultural Centre then join a guided
cruise on Kakadu’s Yellow Water billabong.
Keep a lookout for saltwater crocodiles and
an abundance of birds. After lunch, travel
to Nourlangie Rock and view galleries of ancient
Aboriginal artwork.

Day 2. 4WD
Arnhem Land.
Journey
across the East Alligator River
into Arnhem Land. Aboriginal-owned,
Arnhem Land is one of Australia’s most remote regions. Travel to Mikinj
Valley, with its escarpments, floodplains, outcrops
and billabongs. With special permission from
the Manilakarr people, you’ll see places inaccessible
to most. Hear of traditional land ownership,
learn bush skills of hunting and gathering
and how to prepare bush tucker. View Aboriginal
art in its natural state. Most tours are led
or accompanied by an Aboriginal guide.

Day 3. Ubirr
Art Site, East Alligator River
Cruise, Bowali Visitor Centre, Darwin.
Travel
by 4WD to Ubirr to explore the galleries of
ancient Aboriginal artwork. Accompanied by
an Aboriginal guide, join a cruise along the
East Alligator River.
Your guide will explain the Aboriginal culture
of the region, its history and wildlife, enjoy
lunch in a bush setting. On the return journey
to Darwin
visit Window on the Wetlands Visitors Centre
and enjoy a complimentary glass of wine as
you admire the changing light of day over
the floodplain. Arrive in Darwin at 8.00 p.m. (L)
Note:
Injalak Arts and Craft Association is
visited only on weekdays. Injalak is not open
weekends and public holidays and may be closed
for cultural reasons. If Injalak is closed
you will visit Cannon Hill and Hawk Dreaming
in Kakadu instead. This alternative also applies
when seasonal flooding and tides prevent crossing
the East Alligator River.
