Explore Litchfield National Park for the day just 120 klm from Darwin. Travel further to Kakadu national park around 253 klm to the parks entrance from Darwin. Day 1. Kakadu, Rock Art, Yellow Water Cruise.

Travel to World Heritage-listed Kakadu National Park and visit Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre to gain an insight into the park’s history and culture. Join a guided cruise on Yellow Water billabong and perhaps spot a saltwater crocodile. After lunch, visit Nourlangie Rock art site to see Aboriginal paintings that date back thousands of years. These well-preserved artworks will give you an insight into this ancient culture.

Day 2. Ubirr, East Alligator River Cruise, Darwin.

Day 3. Katherine, Nitmiluk, Leliyn (Edith Falls).

Travel to Nitmiluk National Park for a memorable cruise between the sandstone walls of spectacular Katherine Gorge. Your guide will detail the region’s flora and fauna, and explain the significance of the gorge for the Aboriginal people of this region. After a relaxing lunch, visit Leliyn where there’s the opportunity for a refreshing swim. Return to Darwin.               (L)

 

Day 4. Litchfield National Park.

Enter Litchfield National Park – home to sandstone outcrops, monsoonal rainforest and year-round waterfalls. Visit the double waterfall of Florence Falls then travel to Tolmer Falls. Stop for lunch (own expense), then continue to Wangi Falls for a swim in the rock pool or a nature walk to the top of the falls. On return to Darwin, stop to view the magnetic termite mounds.
