Day 1.

Darwin to Kakadu National Park G'day and welcome to Australia's Top End! After pickup from your accommodation, you'll meet your Safaris guide and head south towards Kakadu National Park. Our first adventure is a crocodile spotting cruise. After lunch we head for Ubirr Rock where we see classic examples of Aboriginal rock art and spectacular 360 degree views straight out of Crocodile Dundee!

Day 2.

After breakfast we head out to explore the National Park with an opportunity to swim in cool clear water, walk and explore spectacular sandstone country. After lunch we visit the Aboriginal art galleries of Nourlangie Rock and the fascinating Bowali Centre, Kakadu National Park headquarters. We return to Darwin at approximately 6:30pm.

Your tour finishes at your hotel on arrival back into Darwin. Please take this into consideration if booking any flights out of Darwin. We recommend you book accommodation in advance for the night prior to the tour commencing.

Short Break
Short Breaks are the ideal add on to a longer adventure, or just a short break in an amazing destination. With a duration of 2-5 days these trips range from relaxing beach breaks, to excursions with a local guide or a short but sweet group adventure. With guaranteed frequent departures, group size will vary from the single traveller to an average size of 12. Also guaranteed is the opportunity for the type of real life experience that makes travel so rewarding.

Original
Original trips are classic Intrepid Connections adventures. With a mix of included activities and free time they offer plenty of opportunity to explore at your own pace and join in activities that really get beneath the skin of a destination. While the occasional meal may be included, you'll have the freedom to seek out your own culinary adventures. Accommodation is generally budget or tourist-class (2-3 star) but you're as likely to find yourself as a guest of a local family as staying in a hotel or camping.

Transport will vary as well. Depending on the destination and the itinerary you could find yourself travelling on anything from a camel to a train or a private safari vehicle. It's all a part of the adventure! Original travellers have a desire to make the most of their travel time and really get to know a place, its people and cultures.

Group Size:
Usually a maximum of 24 travellers.

Activities:
Your time is balanced between free time to explore at your own pace and included activities that help you experience things you wouldn't be able to on your own.

Meals:
Meals are included on some camping trips, any homestay accommodation we may use and in some remote areas.

Luggage:
Luggage Our vehicles have limited space therefore please keep luggage to a minimum (i.e a small soft bag). Passengers travelling on tours that include air transfers need to observe strict luggage limitations

What to bring:
Please check with your agent at time of confirmation. However, for most tours you will need the following: swimming towel, water bottle, flash light, toiletries and items of a personal nature, hat, sturdy walking shoes, sun screen, camera and film, warm clothing for night time in winter months and wet weather gear.

PHYSICAL RATINGS

Permanent Safari Camps
All safari camps in the Northern Territory are permanent, so there is no hard work or setting up involved. However, to participate in this trip you must be prepared to assist with food preparation, dish washing, collecting firewood, etc - plus helping keep the campsite clean and tidy for the next group of travellers. The interactive nature of these tours is a key component to getting more in touch with nature, and the Australian culture – the more you put in the more you get out!

Intrepid Connections' camp sites in the Kakadu and Top End set a new benchmark for comfort, without compromising the unique natural setting. All of the tents are twin share, have hard floors and real beds. Being permanent sits, there’s no pitching of tents and all campsites have hot/cold running water, toilets and showers close by. Sleeping bags and sheep sheets are provides at no extra cost. A travel pillow and towel will be provided for you to use and keep for your future travels! Environmental Dyno lanterns are also provided in each tent for your convenience.

On camping trips, you may be required to erect your own tent but usually you will be staying in permanent tented camps. Single travellers can choose the Share twin option - share with someone of the same gender or Single - pay a single supplement.

• Please note, when paying a single suppliment there may be an occasional night, such as on a homestay, where a single room is not available.

AGE

Minimum General Policy:
For the majority of our trips the minimum age for children is 12. All travellers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult who is responsible for the child’s day to day care.

Please note we cannot guarantee triple or joining rooms for families; accompanying adults may be required to share with others in the group on a twin share basis.

Variations:
A minimum age of 18 applies to many of our Overland adventures, while a minimum age of 5 applies to our Family trips and Short Break Adventures. exceptions may apply.

Maximum General Policy:
For the majority of our trips we have no upper age limit though we remind you that our trips can be physically demanding and a Self-Assessment form is required for all passengers 70 years and over.

Variations:
On many of our Overland adventures a maximum age of 70 applies. Please refer to the “your fellow travellers” section of the relevant Trip Notes to check if any specific age variations apply.
