From an outback
station to the crystal clear rockpools of
Kakadu, this small group trip give you a taste
of the diversity of the Top End.
Day
1: Darwin to Kakadu National Park G'day and
welcome to Australia's Top End!
After pick
up from your accommodation, you'll meet your
guide and head for Litchfield National Park.
Our first adventure on the way is at Adelaide
River. Here the Jumping Crocodile Cruise will
take you down the river and you'll experience
the local wildlife and crocodiles in their
natural habitat. We then travel into Litchfield
National Park. This park is famous for its
scenic beauty, waterfalls and safe swimming.
We visit Florence Falls, Wangi Falls and Buley
Rockhole's and walk through beautiful rainforests.
This is where we'll also enjoy a picnic lunch.
Once we're back on the road we'll explore
the giant termite mounds on our way to out
overnight camp in the outback, at Mt Bundy
Station. Tonight you'll enjoy a unique "Territory"
dining experience followed by a star talk
and star gazing! Camp: Private Permanent
Campsite
Day
2: Kakadu National Park
After breakfast
we will head out to Kakadu travelling via
the scenic Marraki Track. Kakadu National
Park covers an awesome 19,000 kms and is home
to one-third of Australia's birdlife! There
is plenty to see and do! First up today we
head to Ubirr Rock - home to one of the most
famous aboriginal rock art sites in Kakadu.
Take time to learn about the dreamtime stories
that inspired the art and take the walk to
the top of the Rock for spectacular 360 degree
views of the Kakadu escarpment and Arnhem
Land in the distance. We'll head to our lunch
spot beside the East Alligator River before
travelling on to participate in the Murdudjurl
Cultural Tour. It's here you'll spend time
with the local aboriginal people, learning
about their culture, way of life, bush tucker
and arts & crafts. This is a unique and truly
insightful experience. You'll then return
to camp to settle back for an evening under
the stars.

Day
3: Twin & Jim Jim Falls
After an early
breakfast, we depart on our big day out to
Gunkurdul (Twin Falls) and Barrkmalam (Jim
Jim Falls). These falls are in a remote area
of the Park only accessible by four wheel
drive vehicle, some 70 kilometres off the
sealed road via a dirt track. This is an area
of incredible natural beauty, and the waterfalls
are rainwater fed, they change with the season.
The rock pools and surrounds are magnificent
year round and well worth the journey. Twin
Falls is only accessible by water therefore
we take a short boat ride through the gorge
to the beach at the base of the falls. After
a picnic lunch on the banks of the river,
we take the hike (approximately 1 km) through
the rainforest to Jim Jim Falls and its crystal
clear waters. We return to the camp for dinner
and reflect on an amazing day.
Camp:
Private Permanent Campsite
Day
4: Kakadu to Darwin
This morning
after breakfast we depart for a cruise
on Yellow Water Billabong. This tranquil
wetland is home to a diversity of flora and
fauna. Watch as native birds rest among water
lilies, see saltwater crocodiles, wild horses
and wallabies in their natural habitats, and
discover why this unspoiled wilderness is
a World Heritage listed landmark. We then
travel on to Anbangbang Billabong,
to lunch in the shadows of Nourlangie
Rock before exploring this memorable
rock art site. The ancient rock art here provides
a unique window into a rich spiritual tradition.
You can also climb to Gunwarddehwardde
lookout for impressive views of both
Kakadu's escarpment and Nourlangie Rock. Trip
finishes on arrival into Darwin around 18.30
on day 4. Please take this into consideration
when booking any flights out of Darwin. We
recommend you book accommodation in advance
to extend your stay here.
* Please
note that some activities within Australias
national parks are dependent on weather and
the observance of cultural traditions, therefore

Short

from relaxing beach breaks, to excursions
with a local guide or a short but sweet group
adventure. With guaranteed frequent departures,
group size will vary from the single traveller
to an average size of 12. Also guaranteed
is the opportunity for the type of real life
experience that makes travel so rewarding.
Original
Original trips are classic Intrepid Connections
adventures. With a mix of included activities
and free time they offer plenty of opportunity
to explore at your own pace and join in activities
that really get beneath the skin of a destination.
While the occasional meal may be included,
you'll have the freedom to seek out your own
culinary adventures. Accommodation is generally
budget or tourist-class (2-3 star) but you're
as likely to find yourself as a guest of a
local family as staying in a hotel or camping.
Transport will
vary as well. Depending on the destination
and the itinerary you could find yourself
travelling on anything from a camel to a train
or a private safari vehicle. It's all a part
of the adventure! Original travellers have
a desire to make the most of their travel
time and really get to know a place, its people
and cultures.
