ITINERARY:
Travel
south through tropical country, passing former WWII airstrips.
We make a short stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a
site dedicated to those killed in the air raids in Darwin
in the 1940s.
Continue
to Edith Falls, where there is time for a refreshing swim.
The paperbark and pandanas fringed natural pool at the base
of the falls is safe for swimming throughout most of the year.
Alternatively take in the lush, tropical surroundings around
the falls.
Enjoy
lunch and a 2 hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge in
Nitmiluk National Park.
You have the opportunity to see wildlife and prolific birdlife.
Our cruise through the gorges takes us past all manner of
flora and fauna. Enjoy a brief tour of Katherine, the hub
of the regions cattle and farming industries and the third
largest town in the Northern Territory.
An
evening stop is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase
dinner (own expense). You may like to sample the famous Barra
and Chips or have your photo taken with the mounted buffalo
Charlie who was made famous in the movie Crocodile Dundee,
before returning to Darwin.
We return to Darwin approximately
9.00pm.
