Safaris to Kakadu, The Kimberley & Private Charters
|
 |
|
We
are a small, locally owned and operated tour company, based
in Darwin. We specialise in luxury small group 4WD safaris
and personalised private charters throughout the Northern
Territory, Kakadu and the Kimberley.
Kakadu
and the Kimberley are the last frontiers of Australia with
ancient landscapes, spectacular waterfalls, pristine rock
pools and magnificent gorges. Whatever your interests are-
there’s something for everyone! Fishing, Aboriginal rock art
and culture, bird watching, swimming, wildlife- it’s all included!
Travelling
in our luxury 4WD gives you the chance to “experience” the
area and not just visit it, as we take you to remote locations,
far from the crowds. With no more than 6 people on board,
our small group tours leave plenty of room for flexibility
and provide maximum comfort in the rugged outback. Take
one of our scheduled safaris to Kakadu and the Kimberley or
let us design a private charter programme to suit you.
Sound
like your kind of holiday? Then read on and see what we can
offer you……
Our
scheduled 4WD safaris have been designed to give you the best
experience possible and visit all the best spots! While our
Kimberley safaris are comfortable camping, Kakadu safaris
are camping and accommodated to give you the most comfortable
experience in the tropical climate.Private
charter itineraries are specially designed to suit your interests
and time frame. We can tailor-make programmes for specialist
bird watching and photographic groups, incentives and of course,
families, who want a more personal experience in this special
part of the world.
Camping
under the stars, swimming in crystal clear rock pools, visiting
ancient Aboriginal rock art sites – there’s so much beauty
and so much to do- let us introduce you to the Kimberley and
Kakadu in all their splendour.

Sacred
Earth Safaris primarily operate Kakadu camping tours and Kimberley
camping safaris but accommodated touring can also be organised,
if required.
Never
been camping before? Not to worry- we make life easy for you-
our tents are quick and easy to erect, with full head room
and camp beds with swags and linen for a good nights sleep!
Your guide is always on hand to assist. Erecting your tent
and helping wash up is as hard as it gets! Camping certainly
doesn’t mean you have to “rough it”- you’ll
be surprised at the comfort level our camps will give you,
our food is excellent and camping gives you the opportunity
to stay in remote locations and experience some amazing sunrises
and sunsets. If we venture into more remote locations without
any facilities, we carry a portable bush shower and toilet,
for your comfort.
There
are different levels of accommodation in the Kimberley and
the Northern Territory, from basic to luxury or station stays
and we will design your itinerary to suit your budget and
preferences.
Our
tours cater for all ages and levels of fitness and can include
as much or as little activity as you’d like! You don’t
have to be super fit to enjoy the sights but some activities
require a certain level of fitness. While we don’t want
to be nosy, letting us know if you have any limitations or
disabilities will help us make sure you get the most from
your trip and that we don’t take you somewhere unsuitable.
We
can include all kinds of activities in your touring, wildlife
cruises, helicopter flights, fishing and canoeing, amongst
others. Special interests can also be catered for.
We
use only the best equipment and have fully equipped, air-conditioned
Toyota Landcruiser GXL's with heavy duty trailers, for comfortable
travelling along the dirt roads. Every piece of equipment
used on tour, from the individual filter coffee cups to our
large, roomy tents with shades, has been selected by us to
make life easier and to make your tour as comfortable as possible.
We also carry reference material and books on board for your
enjoyment.
Your
tour leader has a senior first aid certificate, and safety
equipment is always carried on board including a first aid
kit, satellite phone and epirb. We are happy to give you the
satellite number to pass on to family for an emergency contact,
and recommend that you also give us the details of a person
to contact should the need arise.
While
you’re touring with us, your tour leader will prepare
3 meals a day for you as well as providing light snacks. Meals
include freshly prepared salads, vegetables, fish (barramundi
is a favourite) and meat as well as fruit, which is always
available. The meals are cooked using the traditional styles
of open fire and camp oven. Vegetarians and other dietary
requirements are catered for, as long as you let us know when
you book.

Tour
Meals
The food
on a Sacred Earth Safaris Kakadu tour or Kimberley safari
is excellent - fresh, varied and plentiful. Special diets
are catered for but you need to let us know when you book
so we can make sure you’re well looked after. We also understand
that after the day’s activities you’ll be hungry so our menus
are designed so that you don’t have to wait ages to eat! Your
guide will prepare and cook all the meals for you while on
a Kimberley tour or Kakadu safari, over an open fire, though
helping out with the washing up is always appreciated! A typical
day on tour starts with fresh juices, a selection of teas
and coffee (instant or filter - we have individual filter
coffee cups), cereals, fruit, toast (a selection of bread
is available) and a large variety of jams and spreads. We
also have pancakes or bacon and eggs some mornings. Lunches
are picnic style with a wide selection of salad items, cold
meats, cheeses, tuna and bread, rolls or mountain bread. Pre-
dinner nibbles are served while dinner is being prepared and
these include camembert cheese, olives, dips and chips and
a selection of crackers. A typical dinner consists of fresh
salads and vegetables, t - bone steaks, fresh barramundi,
fillet steak, chicken casserole, stir fries, taco’s, spaghetti
or a camp oven roast. All our food is of premium quality and
where possible, from local suppliers. We carry fruit in the
vehicle and have a selection of other snacks available during
the day.

|
What
do I need to bring?
For all tours you will need to bring your personal items,
swimwear, towel, toiletries, camera (with plenty of film and
spare batteries), medication, sunglasses, wide brimmed hat,
sunscreen, walking boots / sandals. It is a good idea to purchase
alcohol before you begin your tour as buying en-route can
be expensive with limited availability.
Other
items may be required, depending on your destination and the
time of year. For every tour we provide an information pack,
which will be sent to you upon receipt of your final payment,
with a map and further details of what to bring as well as
where you can buy these items along the way.
|
|
Fishing
There
are plenty of great places to fish in the Top End and the
Kimberley and this can be incorporated into your tour, whether
you prefer river or coastal fishing. We carry fishing rods
on every trip and there are opportunities throughout the Top
End and Kimberley to catch the mighty barramundi, the great
fish of the north. So if you fancy “getting a line wet”, don’t
hesitate to ask!

Sacred Earth Safaris is licenced and accredited under the
NT transport act, Parks NT and Parks WA. While Danielle works

Originally from the Katherine region, he grew up on cattle
stations and Aboriginal communities and gained a respect and
understanding of the land and culture from an early age. He
was one of the first to lead Kakadu tours, had 4 years guiding
in Central Australia and has been taking Kimberley safaris
to the region for over 12 years, making him one of the most
experienced guides in Northern Australia.
Many
years of guiding on Kimberley tours has also allowed him to
form a special relationship with the remote community of Kalumburu,
who allow us to stay on their land, have a local Aboriginal
guide show us around and conduct Aboriginal guided tours.
With extensive knowledge of Aboriginal rock art and culture,
bush tucker, flora, fauna, natural history and geology , David
has assisted in the making of several documentary programs,
including “The World Around Us” on such networks as CNN and
the BBC. He has also been an advisor for several books on
the Top End. Now, enough about him….. We’ve designed our scheduled
Kakadu tours and Kimberley safaris to cater for all interests
and visit all the best places through these regions, in comfort,
in our luxury 4WD.
