Day
One: Approx 165km's (L,D) :
8.30am departure from Alice Springs . Old South Road to Ewaninga
Rock Carvings. Lunch at Old Ghan Rodinga Siding. Charlotte Range
overlooking Chambers Pillar. - First Camp at Chambers Pillar

Day Two: 250km's (B,L,D):
Sunrise over Chambers Pillar before breakfast. To historic,
but abandoned village, Alice Well on the Hugh River . South
along the Old Ghan Rail Line to Finke. Reminisce at Charlotte
Waters Telegraph Station ruins (Joe Byrne lived there for 50
years!) Over the S.A border TO Mt Dare Hotel.
- Dinner, Bed & Breakfast at Mt Dare Hotel
Day Three: 180km's (B,L,D):
Birding & nature walks for early risers around Mt Dare Hotel.
After a Homestead breakfast we travel through Witjira National
Park to Blood Creek Homestead ruins. Owner Ted Colson was the
first European to cross the Simpson Desert, return trip in 1936.
Onto Dalhousie Thermal Pools. Swimming here. After lunch we
head east onto the Rig Road to Purni Bore which is the last
water until Birdsville.

Day Four: 160km's (B,L,D):
Past the French Line we turn south heading for the Lone Gum
Tree, near the Rig Road and Erabena Track Corner. North along
Erabena to WAA Line. Here we turn east setting up camp around
4.30pm among the dunes.
- Bush Camp in a swale between Sand Dunes
Day Five: 95km's (B,L,D)
30 kms east along WAA over uncapped dunes to the Knolls Track,
turning north to the Approdinna Attora Knolls, a group of Gypsum
Knolls first discovered by David Lindsay in 1883, and then named
by Ted Colson in 1936. Then we join the French Line and continue
east towards Poeppels Corner. The dunes progressively get higher
and more challenging. Many Ephemeral Lakes , bordered by stands
of Georgina Gidgeai (Gidgee) in the area. Detouring north back
into the N.T to camp at Lake Mirraponga Porgunna.
- Bush Camping tonight will be a unique experience
Day Six: 125km's (B,L,D):
Return to the French Line and onto Poeppel's Corner the junction
of NT;SA & Qld. North across salt Lakes to the QAA line
towards Eyre Creek,
The dunes get higher and further apart, now in Queensland heading
for Birdsville.

Seven and Eight: 130km's (B,L,D) Day Eight – Evening
Meal own expense:
Over Big Red and into Birdsville for two nights at Birdsville.
Sightseeing and relaxing at Birdsville. Recommend a
visit to the unique Working Museum . (own expense) North
of town to Dingo Hill for drinks and nibbles whilst
watching sunset over an area “Bigger than Belgium ”.
- Overnight at Birdsville Caravan Park
Day
Nine & Ten: 380km's & 150km's (B,L,D):
South along the modern Birdsville Track, now a well-maintained
road, through part of Sturt Stony Desert heading for
the most remote caravan park in the world, Kalamurina
on the Warburton River which is the border of the Simpson
and Tirari Deserts.
- 2 Nights here at our Bush Camp on the Warburton River

Nine & Ten: 380km's & 150km's (B,L,D):
South along the modern Birdsville Track, now a well-maintained
road, through part of Sturt Stony Desert heading for the most
remote caravan park in the world, Kalamurina on the Warburton
River which is the border of the Simpson and Tirari Deserts.
- 2 Nights here at our Bush Camp on the Warburton River
Day Eleven: 360km's (B,L,D):
From Kalamurina its back to the Birdsville Track then southwards
across Cooper Creek Valley & on to the junction of the
Birdsville & Oodnadatta Tracks at the historic railway
town of Marree. Time and opportunity for flight over Lake
Eyre . (Optional; Own Expense) 90km's north up the Oodnadatta
Track to Lake Eyre South.
- Bush Camp near Lake Eyre South 12M under sea Level
Day Twelve: 245km's (B,L,D):
Its up the Oodnadatta track following the remnants of the
Old Ghan Rail line. Coward Springs for Thermal Spa & Railway
Museum . Sightseeing Mound Springs on the Great Artesian Basin
and onto William Creek . Lunch at this Outback Pub (own Expense)
East over Old Ghan Line to the now almost forgotten Peake
Telegraph Station Ruins.

Day Thirteen: 345km's (B,L,D):
Peake Telegraph Station Homestead & ruins. Return to the
Oodnadatta Track and onto the Algebuckina Bridge .. The longest
Bridge on the Old Ghan Rail Line.Circa:1891 Next stop Oodnadatta
for Lunch (own expense). Oodnadatta was the Rail and Camel
Depot between 1890 to 1920's. North via Eringa, Sidney Kidmans
favourite property, and onto Mt Dare.
- Mt Dare Hotel. Dinner,Bed & Breakfast
Day Fourteen: 450km's (B,L):
North through the Finke River Floodout on the NT-SA border
to . Molly Clarks Pioneer Homestead in the Simpson Desert
. Visit rare Acacia Peuce “Waddy Trees” in the driest part
of Australia.
We traverse the Southern Hemisphere's largest private Cattle
Station “Andado”(over 10,000 square Kilometres) Here we leave
the Simpson Desert behind and continue to Alice Springs.
Day
Thirteen: 345km's (B,L,D):
