Rock * Yellow Water Billabong Cruise
Leaving Darwin , we travel on the Arnhem Highway
across the Adelaide River and Marrakai Plains.
A wide selection of native wildlife has made
this region their home. Stop at Nourlangie Rock,
where your Guide will lead a walk to view ancient
Aboriginal rock art. After lunch we join our
local guide for a cruise on the famous Yellow
Water Billabong. Search for saltwater crocodiles
and the colourful range of bird life this region
is renowned for. Visit the Warradjan Aboriginal
Cultural Centre and view the informative displays
depicting the traditions of the Aboriginal people
in Kakadu, before returning to Darwin . An optional
spectacular 50 minute scenic flight over Kakadu
is available today. (L)

D5 - Highlights * Florence
* Tolmer and Wangi Falls * Buley Rockhole
Visiting the main falls of Litchfield National
Park, you have the opportunity for scenic and
interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walks.
View Florence Falls from a high vantage point
before making your way down the stairs to the
plunge pool below. We travel to Buley Rockhole
(when accessible) where you can take this opportunity
to swim in the many rock pools. Visit Tolmer
Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading
down to the deep waterhole below. We venture
to Wangi Falls for another opportunity for a
swim in the large crystal clear pool and an
optional steady climb through the monsoon vine
forest to the top of the falls. A great day
also for taking many interesting photos, including
the amazing stand of Termite Mounds. (L)
Note: A good level of fitness is required to
access some of the waterfalls. Seasonal conditions
may affect inclusions from time to time, in
which case alternative touring will be arranged.

D11 - Highlights * Katherine
Gorge Cruise * Edith Falls
Travel south through tropical country, passing
former WWII airstrips. We make a short stop
at the Adelaide River War Cemetery , a site
dedicated to those killed in the air raids in
Darwin in the 1940s. Continue to Edith Falls
, where there is time for a refreshing swim
in the waterhole beneath the falls (conditions
permitting). Join a 2 hour scenic cruise through
Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park.Enjoy
a brief tour of Katherine, the third largest
town in the Territory and hub of the region's
cattle and farming industries. An evening stop
is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase
dinner (own expense). You may like to sample
the famous 'Barra and Chips', before returning
to Darwin . (L)
