We might be a bit biased, but we think Australias got the greatest wildlife collection in the world this South Australia trip will show you why. From Adelaide, head to the pristine natural environment of Kangaroo Island look out for dolphins and sea lions as you slide down the islands sand dunes, kayak its rivers, walk or bike its trails, swim its waters or bask on its beaches. Spot koalas in the Hanson Bay wildlife Sanctuary and take in the view of the islands signature Remarkable Rocks. Cross to the other side of the bay and the Eyre Peninsula, a little known gem thats full of beautiful scenery and has heaps of native animals and exciting activities on offer. If you're feeling adventurous you can choose to dive with Great White Sharks (dont worry, theres a cage) and swim about with sea lions. If youre looking to stay dry, then enjoy secluded bush walks and train your eyes to spot the wildlife around you. Day 1: Adelaide to Kangaroo Island
After an early morning pick up from your Adelaide or Glenelg accommodation (selected hotels/hostels), travel along the picture-perfect Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis for the 45-minute SeaLink ferry ride to Penneshaw, Kangaroo Island. While crossing, it is not uncommon to have an escort of local dolphins that can be viewed from the dolphin deck on the boat. Stop in at Rob's Shearing and Sheepdogs to witness sheep being shorn, then continue to Emu Ridge Eucalyptus Distillery - the only commercial eucalyptus distillery in South Australia. Next up is a visit to the Seal Bay Conservation Park, where you'll have the opportunity to see rare Australian Sea-lions up close in a wild breeding colony. Travelling on to the white sand dunes of the Little Sahara, give sand boarding a shot before arriving at our exclusive accommodation in Vivonne Bay Lodge. Enjoy some free time to kayak on the Harriet River, go for a self-guided walk along the property's tracks, head out trail bike riding or swimming, or simply kick back along Vivonne Bay Beach. The locals will come to greet you in the evening, and by locals we mean the Kangaroos that give this incredible Island it's name. Note: The coach transfer from Adelaide to the ferry is approximately 1.5 hours, with a sailing time of 45 minutes. On the Island, you will spend approximately 2 hours in the vehicle with frequent sightseeing. Walking and active time will depend on which optional activities you choose in the afternoon. (LD)

Day 2: Kangaroo Island sightseeing, and return to Adelaide
After breakfast, pop into the Hanson Bay Wildlife Sanctuary for a walk among eucalyptus trees in search of lazing koalas. Next, continue on to Flinders Chase National Park, arriving at iconic Remarkable Rocks ahead of the crowds. Ramble across its craggy coastline, marvel at its dramatic seascapes, and then stop in at Admirals Arch on Cape Du Couedic to see the resident fur seals frolicking in the ocean or basking on the rocks. If time and weather permits, several stops may be made en route to Penneshaw, where you can purchase dinner (own expense) before our arrival back in Adelaide at the Central Bus Station, a short walk from the Adelaide Central YHA where you will stay tonight. (BL) Note: Driving time whilst on the Island will be the majority of the day, with constant stops for sightseeing. The ferry Journey is approximately 45 minutes back to the mainland with a journey of 1.5 hours back to central Adelaide. Arrival time will be approximately 10:40pm. Walking distances are several hundred metres at each location. This night is unguided, you will meet with your second Guide tomorrow morning at the YHA.

Day 3: Adelaide to Port Lincoln
Pick up: Adelaide Central YHA 05:00am

We've got an early start day, leaving Adelaide at 5:00am for the drive to the Eyre Peninsula via Port Augusta and Whyalla. We'll be honest - there's not a whole lot to see on the drive (unless endless horizons and scrubby bushland float your boat), so load up the Kindle or charge up the iPod for some digital entertainment. After arriving in Port Lincoln and checking into our accommodation, head to Mikkira Station for a wander around the grounds in search of koalas and native Port Lincoln parrots. (LD) Driving time today is about 7 hours, with rest stops in between.

Day 4: Whalers Way Conservation Park or Great White Shark Cage Diving
Today is an extreme day of fun! Those that dare come face to face with the Great White Shark on a day tour, this is an optional experience - up at 5.30 to board the vessel at 6.30am. Board at the Marina Hotel pontoon to the smell of hot coffee made fresh on-board. After an introduction and safety briefing from the skipper of the day, we throw off the ropes and set off for the Neptune Islands. Breakfast is served shortly after departure. Sit back, relax and enjoy your journey we have a 2 hour cruise and we are often accompanied by pods of dolphins and even the odd whale, in season. During the trip, the friendly crew will provide you with information about the fishing industries, the 'local area' and the marine life. 'Take in the spectacular coastal scenery of lower Spencer Gulf and the islands of Thorny Passage. In season, you can try your luck at catching a Southern Bluefin Tuna. On arrival at the Islands the skipper gets the boat up as close to the land as he can so you can get the best views and the best photos of the New Zealand Fur Seal colony. The exact dive location for the day is chosen and it's time to drop anchor. The ocean surrounding the Neptune Islands is crystal clear which makes for ideal viewing of the Great White Sharks. Groups enter our new spacious cage 6 at a time. This way you get some welcome human company and you still get plenty of room for prime shark viewing. Once the sharks arrive, each group will have the opportunity to spend about 45 minutes in the cage, face to face with the amazing Great White Shark. Please note that time in the cage can vary and will depend on shark activity and weather on the day. Even when you're not in the water, you don't miss out - the action from the very spacious upper and lower decks is fantastic so make sure you keep your camera ready for that once-in-a-lifetime photo opportunity. We have our own cameras mounted on the shark cage so you can also sit in the comfort of our saloon and watch the underwater action live-streaming. Those not wishing to be quite so extreme, have a choice of free activities to choose from. Walk the Investigator trail from North Shields back to Port Lincoln 10km, Parnkalla trail from Billy lights back to Makybe Diva statue on the fore shore(5km), Railway museum (open 2-4pm) or the Art gallery at the Nautilus Theatre. (BLD)

Day 5: Hopkins Island Sealion Swim, and return to Adelaide
After breakfast we head over to the marina and head to Hopkins Island, where we take opportunity to experience one of Australia's most unique wildlife experiences - swimming with Australian sea lions. This incredible wildlife experience involves a day boat cruise. We find the friendly populations and can swim and snorkel amongst them. There is nothing that can parallel the feeling of communing with the puppy dogs of the sea. (BL) Driving time back to Adelaide is approximately 7 hours with rest stops.
