Sand Palms Motel
- Dundee
140klm from Darwin
The
Top Ends Sand Palms Roadhouse & Tavern and the all New Sand
Palms Tropical Motel is a new retreat close to some
of the Northern Territory's most bountiful fishing destinations.
The Tropical Motel at the Bynoe Haven Estate on Fog Bay
Road is only 40 km to Dundee Beach and about 2 km from the
Finniss River boat ramp and Milne Inlet.
Dundee Beach, a favourite
destination for both local and visiting fishermen is around
140 kms west of Darwin. Take the Fogg Bay Road turn-off
on the Cox Peninsula Road to Dundee Beach. Motel and camping
accommodation are available at the Sandpalms Motel, fuel,
ice, bait and other supplies are also available. Centrally
located to all the boat ramps offers easy access to excellent
fishing opportunities.
Bynoe Harbour has everything
for the fisherman from small muddy creeks and gutters to
larger arms, in-shore and off-shore reefs. The muddy creeks
and gutters usually produce a wide variety of fish and crustaceans
ranging from the famous Barramundi, Salmon, Mangrove Jack,
Bream, Mullet, Prawns, Mudrabs, and more. The rocky oyster
covered creeks hold a range of fish including Snapper, Mangrove
Jack, Ock-Ock, Bream, Cod, and an abundance of Cat-Fish.
In the larger arms is bluer water where Skinny, Trevally,
Salmon and Barra can be picked up by trawling. The in-shore
and off-shore reefs are great places for larger specimens
of the well sought after Golden Snapper, Mangrove Jacks,
Coral Trout, Jewfish, Mackerel, Tuna, Trevally, Skinny,
Tricky Snapper, Groper, the odd Red Emperor and Shark (common
Sharks found are Tigers and Mako) which put up a magnificent
fight.
