Campwild
10 Day 4WD Adelaide to Alice Springs Expedition
|
|
|
 |
Campwild
Adventures was started by Tim and Bianca Grigg in
1998. After spending 3 ½ years travelling around Australia
and the world, they realised just how difficult it
was for the traveller visiting this beautiful country
to see the real Australia, to get off the worn out
tourist routes and into the bush.
|
|
So
they started Campwild Adventures, and had a simple
philosophy behind their business, 'enjoyment before
profit.' Campwild is an eco friendly company, we have
our own environmental plan and follow the minimum
impact recomendations set down by The National Parks
Service. We recycle on our trips and in the office,
and always try to use recycled paper for our correspondense
and publicity material.
|
 |
 |
If
you want a really special experience while in Australia,
and are prepared to join in on tour and have lots
of fun while you meet new friends in some of the worlds
most special environments, then join one of our tours
and you want regret it

Adelaide
to Alice Springs - The trip
This trip really is special, it's not just that you see
some fantastic places, have a huge adventure and make some
really good friends, but the remote areas, the outback,
and this simple carefree way of travelling through the bush
has this sort of power that hijacks your brain and allows
you to see so clearly what life’s all about. It's just such
a peaceful cleansing place, it's hard to explain, it’s great
to watch people slowly understand. You really do learn a
lot about yourself.
Days 1 - 4 Outback & Flinders Ranges:
It's up early with the sun, we pick up from Adelaide and
then head up the track towards the Flinders Ranges. It's
one of the oldest mountain ranges in the world and is a
place of fantastic and unique beauty, full of wildlife,
Aboriginal Culture, secluded gorges and waterholes.
Our first Bush Camp (like all of them) is under the stars
around the Campfire, this is a great way to travel and you’ll
soon get into the swing of sitting on your swag at the end
of a day of amazing scenery and experiences.
While in the Flinders Ranges we’ll have opportunities to
hike, swim in waterholes, experience life on a huge working
outback sheep station and the highlight, visiting the Adnyamathanha
Aboriginal people at Iga Warta Community, we spend 2 nights
at Iga Wartha for a seriously unique cultural experience.
Days 5 - 7 Outback, Coober Pedy and onto NT:
We leave the ranges behind and head for the Outback, the
roads turn to dirt and sky gets bigger, The next 3 days
we get really remote as we travel along a network of bush
tracks making our way north towards the Northern Territory.
This is an amazing part of the country, very dry and barren
but with surprises around every corner, actually there's
more surprises than corners, waterholes and springs for
swimming, Lake Eyre, a giant salt lake where we often bush
camp, William creek, a classic outback pub, and Coober Pedy,
the amazing opal town where the locals live in underground
houses called “dugouts”. We then bolt up the highway towards
“The Rock” where we bush camp in the red earth of Central
Australia, Uluru is on the horizon!
Day 8 - 10 Uluru, Olgas and Kings Canyon:
We spend 3 days in this magnificent part of the world, so
enough time to see it properly and really appreciate the
spiritual significance of Uluru and Kata Tjuta to the local
Anangu Aboriginal people. In this time we’ll visit the cultural
centre at Uluru, hike around the base of Uluru (there’s
time to climb if you wish) and hike the Valley of the Winds
at Kata Tjuta (Olgas). This is all caped of with a chill
out sunset at Uluru and a chilly sunrise in the cold desert
dawn. We then head for Kings Canyon where after bush camping
at Lilla Aboriginal Community we hike the rim of Kings Canyon,
where we can even jump in and swim at the garden of Eden.
After a free helicopter flight at Kings Creek Station over
the ranges we head for the toem of Alice Springs, normally
arriving at about 6pm where we can then wash off the dust
and hit the town!
