The
markets run from the last week in April
until (this year being April 24th, 2008)
the end of October. The market is open
on Thursday from 5pm-10 pm and Sunday
4pm to 9pm. The Mindil Beach Market is
nestled against the Mindil Beach and next
to the Sky City Casino resort and Darwin
tennis Courts and some 800 metres from
our Botantical Gardens.
Is
there free parking available at the market?
Also as the parking is in an open area
it is very easy for large motorhomes to
park- But come about 4.30pm so it's easy
to park.
No
you can't buy alcohol - but currently
you can bring your own alcohol and ice
is available at Mindil You can also rent
tables and chairs and enjoy a drink in
comfort as so many patrons do. The Mindil
Beach Market offical webiste is http://www.mindil.com.au/
and The preferred method of communication
is via email admin@mindil.com.au.

6.30pm. That's right the best time we
found is 5pm and then settle in and wait
for the sunset.

Around
20 minutes before sunset the folks make
there way through the sand dune pathway
(right) to the beach and stand or site
with the 100's of cameras at the ready
for one of the most amazing sunsets they
will ever witness.
Oh
that crocidile question. I have lived
here for 20 years and I have never seen
one in the harbour.

Unfortunately
due to health and safety the market does
not operate when raining. If a market
is called off press releases are sent
to all media. If it starts raining after
the start of the market, announcements
will be made to that effect.
The markets have a variety of ways to
keep the kids amused. Pony rides, petting
zoo, laughing clowns, jumping castle with
some great music and acts for the children’s
entertainment and a beautiful beach by
the Arafura sea.

Getting
There: The
markets are located within a 15-20 walk
from the city.
Shuttle
buses (like a taxi that is a small minvan
that seats upto 12 people) pick up at
a regular basis from major hotels. A taxi
from the city will cost approx $10.00
Public buses connect the markets to the
City and Northern Suburbs.
The
Thursday market is the big one with Sunday
being renowned for being a bit more laid
back, family oriented afternoon and sometimes
we find a few less stores.
