The Wilderness 4WD Adventures

Wilderness 4WD Adventures have been specializing in small group nature-based tours since 1990. Our tours are a well organised camping experience designed for fit active people ranging in age from 18-40 years and the tour programs are a pertfect balance of good information and fun for those who have a thirst for knowledge and a love for nature.

Let us show you the Top End of Australia - from Broome and the Kimberley Ranges, across to Katherine, Darwin, and the world famous Kakadu National Park. Come and explore the wild northern frontier including beautiful areas like Litchfield, the Bungle Bungle Ranges, and other hidden treasures accessible to those who travel with us.

Our tours involve a reasonable degree of bushwalking, swimming and rock climbing and are perfect for adventurous people. Wherever possible our aim is to "get away from the crowds" and take passengers into the more isolated areas of Australia's Northern Territory and the Kimberley region. We believe that customer satisfaction is extremely important and always receive positive feedback from people who have travelled on our tours.

We are confident that all of our guides have the ability to provide you with an enjoyable and exciting experience. If this sounds good to you and you want a perfect holiday, then take a tour with Wilderness 4WD Adventures.

Important Note:
At various times during the year, Graveside Gorge will be closed to visitors and only open for use by the Traditional Owners of the area. During these short closures, the following destinations will be substituted:
Jim Jim Falls: A great hike known as the Barrk Marlam Walk will take you to the Top of Jim Jim Falls and reward you with a magnificent view down the gorge. Spend a while swimming, bushwalking and rock climbing then enjoy your lunch at the top of Jim Jim Falls away from the crowds!
Anbangbang Billabong: enjoy viewing many varieties of water birds on a floodplain, with Nourlangie Rock acting as an impressive backdrop.
Nawurlandja Lookout: From the top of this stony outcrop, you obtain breathtaking views over central Kakadu and across to "Lightning Dreaming" on the Arnhemland Escarpment.
Mamukala Wetlands: offers the bird enthusiast a small paradise at various times of the year, the concentration of birds on this floodplain can be awesome.

Day 4. This morning we make our way to Twin Falls where you will get to enjoy an informative boat cruise with an Aboriginal Guide up Twin Falls Gorge (own expense $12.50) with an Aboriginal Guide up Twin Falls Gorge. After a short walk down to the end of the gorge, you reach a beautiful white sandy beach at the base of Twin Falls…simply spectacular. For the active hikers you get to take a return walk(7km) to the Top of Twin Falls which offers some magnificent views down the gorge and swimming in rock pools at the top of the falls. From here we make our way to the mighty Jim Jim Falls. A swim in the plunge pool at the base of Jim Jim Falls is sure to wake you up for the day as you cool down in the refreshing water. To reach the plunge pool, a 1km scenic walk through monsoon rainforest is taken and has excellent lookouts over Jim Jim Falls. Take your time to admire the awesome sight of the sheer cliff faces that surround you from the base of the gorge. Our safari camp permit in this region allows us peaceful camping only 30 minutes drive from Jim Jim falls and ensures that tomorrow you will wake up to the sound of the birds instead of the crowds. Next you can view various displays on Kakadu at the Bowali Visitor Centre before heading north to Ubirr rock. At Ubirr Rock you will see more fantastic Aboriginal Art sites and learn about the Aboriginal lifestyle and culture. A short climb to the top of Ubirr Rock will reward you with a 360 degree view over floodplains and the Arnhemland Escarpment - a spectacular sight. What a better way to finish the day than by sitting back and enjoying our private crocodile and wildlife cruise on Corroboree Billabong, a part of the Mary River system.
